About Me

Hi there! My name is MP White.

During the past two years of my post-grad life, I’ve had the opportunity to gain a multitude of experience during my early employment. From giving tours on the Warner Bros. Studio lot to creating and managing my own digital marketing campaigns at National Construction Rentals and, more recently, TKO Studios, I’ve had the chance to hone a variety of marketing and community-building skills in Los Angeles.

A little more about me – I’m a graduate from the Missouri School of Journalism, where I spent creating, curating, and engaging with media through my Convergence Media major. Whether writing engaging social media content and managing online communities, filming on farms or at concerts, or just keeping up my own social media presence, I have always had a passion for finding new ways to tell interesting stories. I’m an avid writer, as you can see on my Instagram, and I’m also an improv comedian who loves to utilize my creativity and quick thinking both on and offstage.

I bring my creative, collaborative nature to all of my projects at work, in community leadership roles and in my comedy. I have a strong interest in the entertainment industry, specifically in film and TV, comedy and music. I’m always down to meet new people and have new and exciting experiences, which has allowed me to really feel at home in Los Angeles. Social Media and Community Management

I know this is a ridiculously millennial thing to say, but I love social media.
While there are plenty negative aspects of constantly being buffeted by news, ads, and people from high school that are now involved in pyramid schemes, I think it’s easy to forget about the posit allows me to stay connected to friends and family across the country, In the lurch between creating a career and graduating college, it has given me so many ways to connect with my friends and peers who are also doing their best to navigate post-grad life. Plus, it gives everyone an equal platform to speak about what they’re passionate about, to create a community of like-minded people and also to make some killer jokes.

In college and over the past 2 years as I’ve started my career, I’ve learned so much about the importance of community building and social media engagement in the marketing world. Social channels like Facebook and Twitter are a great line for B2C communication and, more often than not, they can be optimized to work with your brand instead of working against it. In a previous position with a construction contracting company, upper management was so concerned about getting backlash on social media that we missed a crucial channel of engagement – and instead, people took to Yelp to air their grievances.

But as I’ve learned through watching successful brand social channels (ie: Poptarts, Wendy’s, etc) people love the chance to connect with their favorite brands, regardless of what they are.

In my current role as Director of Marketing and E-Commerce at a startup comic book publisher, I’ve used my knowledge of digital marketing and social media management to create an engaged online community through our social media channels, direct B2C communication and email marketing. You can check out our company Facebook, Twitter and Instagram which I managed and monitored alongside my supervisor. Below are some of my favorite posts that I wrote along with product shots I’ve curated.

Besides social media management, I also created and managed a variety of PPC ad campaigns via Facebook/Instagram Ads and Google Adwords. I was relatively new to both ad platforms before I began my current job, but I had the chance to learn all the ins and outs of Google Adwords by teaming up with a Google service team member early in my employment. My advertising campaigns have an average annual budget of $80k, and which helps me bring nearly 3-4,000 visitors to our Shopify store daily while keeping our CPC at an average of about $.10. Through my PPC ad campaigns and social media engagement, our online storefront quickly rose to the top 1% of web traffic on Shopify. Below are a few screenshot averages from my Google campaigns.

I also really enjoy creating branded content for social. You can check out my Vimeo account for a small sample of social media videos that I wrote, directed and produced (and a few videos I’ve made just for fun). In college, I worked at our city newspaper, The Missourian, and made several videos for our social channel. This video about race relations at the University of Missouri had 1,700 views and reached over 5,000 people.

As social media continues to become more relevant, I hope I can continue to grow with it. If you’re looking for someone with Social Media Management, PPC Advertising or Community Management experience, let’s connect!
